PREMIERE: Zac Slater - Zips

Tasmania-bred, Melbourne-based muso Zac Slater has been enjoying a busy few months in the first half of this year, having built his performance reputation since moving to the mainland two years ago to appear on stages at events such as Party In The Paddock, The Basin Concert and Falls Festival.

He's maintaining the considerable momentum behind his music with the release of new single Zips, proudly premiering on The Music today. Co-produced at Port Melbourne's Sunshine Recorder Studios under the purview of Lee Cardan and IAMMXO (Diafrix), Zips boasts rapid-fire rhymes, deep grooves and an ineffable air of cool that combine to create an attention-grabbing, well-crafted and utterly infectious jam.

The lyrics themselves discuss Slater's predilection for wearing slippers instead of shoes, because a person should damn well be dressing with comfort in mind as much as style. The track, thus, celebrates uniqueness and the importance of being happy in your own skin and, importantly, footwear.

Zips is the first taste to come from Slater's forthcoming debut EP, The Versatile Mind, which is due for release later this year.
