Premiere: The Great Emu War Casualties - Modern Indie Spacecats

Take a first listen to the rollicking new single from the band with one of the best names in Melbourne / Naarm.

More The Great Emu War Casualties The Great Emu War Casualties

With a name that will either remind people of some often forgotten Australian history or lead people to dig deeper and discover just what happened in the Campion district of W.A. in 1932, Melbourne-based three-piece The Great Emu War Casualties are back with the equally awesome (and appropriately) titled new single, Modern Indie Spacecats, premiering on Pilerats today ahead of its July 15 release.

Their third and most raucous single of the year, Modern Indie Spacecats is an epic slice of stomping indie rock, with soaring guitars meeting a relentlessly pounding rhythm section, capped off with impassioned vocals all more than living up to the track’s title.

Frontman Joe Jackson explains some of the inspiration for the track saying "The world is drying up and everyone is working all the time and nobody actually owns anything anymore, and we, the good little boys and girls, receive this rebrand from ownership to leasing as some sort of utopian global destination.”

Give Modern Indie Spacecats a listen today before it officially drops Friday!
