PREMIERE: Soul Artist Takes Aim At Lockout Laws In New Track, 'Sydney'

5 July 2017 | 10:08 am | Staff Writer

Many musicians throughout Sydney have felt the full effect of the contentious lockout laws and pop/soul singer Siki Daha has tackled the issue head on by releasing new song, Sydney; premiering on theMusic.com.au today.

The track reminisces on the vibrant city Sydney once was before government bodies stepped in — from lockout laws to marriage equality, the songwriter insists now is the time to stand up and make a change.

"In my own way I wanted to sing about this and bring this to light," Daha said.

"The cover of the single is to show a city drowning with the water flowing down, and not being able to speak up due to the constraints the government and councils have put upon us."
