Emergent Melburnian hip hop duo Otis High wear their love of their home town proudly in their debut single Welcome Home, a stylish, scratch-dappled love letter to the (03) area code simply overflowing with infectious energy.
With the pair having made individual names for themselves as DJ Marshall and MC MHz — as well as cutting their collaborative teeth under the moniker of The D.Y.E — The Music is stoked to get on at the ground floor with the premiere of Welcome Home today, just ahead of its official independent release tomorrow. The track is a bouncy, mischievous treat that evokes the genre's greats while maintaining a distinct, forward-focused flavour all this twosome's own.
With a crop of big-event appearances already in the bag, including spots at Pushover festival, St Kilda Festival and Melbourne Music Week, Otis High are set to keep the fires burning with a handful of shows next month; first up, they support the Seth Sentry/Remi roadshow at Club 54, Launceston, on Friday 5 August, as well as at Hobart's Uni Bar on 6 August, before turning their attention to stalwart Melbourne venue Boney, at which they'll launch Welcome Home on Friday 12 August with support from Clue and Mini Coop.
