Premiere: Nyxen's In The City gets remixed by Pantheon, Holmes John

Sydney's Nyxen has soundtracked much of Australia's summer once again this year with In The City, an upbeat and charging single which offered a bit of a darker side to Nyxen's characteristically bright and summery house sound while also keeping things exciting and fresh from the rising name. The track has been out for a few months, but it's now joined by two official remixes by two of Australian house's most exciting – Pantheon and Holmes John. Both the remixes really amplify the house roots of the original and turn the single into something more suited for the club, with Pantheon veering things slightly into tech territory with a relentless and pulsing seven-minute epic of a remix, while Melbourne's Holmes John dabbles into the deeper side a little for quite a minimalist take that adds a touch of mystery around Nyxen's bright vocals.

"What can I say about this remix, except Pantheon is an absolute boss dog," says Nyxen on Pantheon's dark remix. "He was the first to jump on remix duties and absolutely nailed translating the track for a dance floor. I've always been a big sucker for dance music that has this feeling of emotion, super chordy and almost progressive movement and the remix Pantheon put up is dripping with it – the dark drops with the super emotional breaks are such a vibe, and the piano that comes in with the vocals sitting on top gave the song a totally new feeling. I think I listened to this remix on repeat when I got my hands on it and there were so many moments that made me think 'damn, I should've done that in the original!'".

Likewise, Nyxen has large amounts of praise when it comes to Holmes John's mysterious take too. "I've been playing so many Holmes tracks in my sets lately, I love how he pairs the slickest bass lines with this feeling of being surrounded by hundreds of people in the busiest club ever and it was a given getting him on board the remix pack," she says. "I love how it drives the song forward and the sounds setting the scene like the police sirens are Holmes stamping his signature ability to have you feel the environment the song is set. To top it off he's put these super trippy effects on the vocals taking them from a dreamy place somewhere a lot darker. Holmes nailed the remix and totally made it his own."

They're both absolutely killer remixes, switching up Nyxen's bright original into far more darker, club-suited territories which we have no doubts will be rinsed endlessly on the dancefloor until Nyxen treats us to her next original. Dive into the remixes below.
