2016 was a fairly quiet year for Perth rockers Moana, but by no means were they lying dormant, kicking off what promises to be a big year with scorching new single Scarab.

The fuzz/grunge-infused dark, atmospheric rock number drops in the lead up to a hometown video launch at Jack Rabbit Slim’s on Feb 24, and was produced by none other than The Love Junkies’ Mitch McDonald.

It’s the first taste of their debut album, which follows 2015’s The Trilogy Of The Black Monsoon.

"It's been a year of many changes within the band. A lot of quiet contemplation, experimentation, learning and recuperating,” Moana Lutton said.

“A year of chaos, heartbreak, intensity and travel that will all explode energetically and lyrically in this album. We are more excited than ever to be releasing new music. It's going to be a big year.”
