For over a decade now, multi-disciplinarian artist and multi-instrumentalist producer Carla Ori has been enchanting listeners as Biscotti, a project that embraces her Italian heritage as she combines synth-led indie pop, funk and hip-hop with an Italo cinematic pop twist. Across live shows and a number of releases, including her debut album Like Heaven in the Movies, Biscotti has become a favourite of the Australian underground, so the news of her new project, House of Biscotti, is particularly exciting.
With a name like House of Biscotti, you’d be right to think (hope!) that this was an electronic project… and you’d be correct! Inspired by “club music of the 90’s, designer shoes and strange vocal samples”, House of Biscotti retains that now signature Biscotti aesthetic while being perfect for the club as Ori hopes to “take listeners to the DANCEFLOORS. OF. THEIR. DREAMS.”
Back with the second House of Biscotti single, Good Baby, Bad Baby is a melodic slice of house goodness, packing bright, playful melodies with four to the floor drums and a repetitive, hypnotic vocal sample sure to get stuck into your head.
