More Canary More Canary

After releasing their second studio album I Am Lion earlier this month, Melbourne quintet Canary have just dropped the film clip for their newest track Last Resort, which is premiering today right here on theMusic.com.au.

Shot on 35mm film by cinematographer Thom Neal and directed by Kathleen Lee, frontman Matthew Kenneally revealed that the video comes from a personal place.

"I have always struggled (as many artists do) to find a balance between my work life/day job and my artistic/creative life," Kenneally said.

"I have been a commercial/domestic painter for 10 years and at one particular point in time, I was working on a particularly uninspiring job in the CBD. My film-maker girlfriend at the time knew how hard and depressing this period was for me and thought it would make for a good video to follow me to work one day and document this snapshot of my life. She felt that it reflected well the mood and feeling of helplessness that was already present in the song."
