Premiere: Albany's Star Arcana return with anthemic The Now

With a couple of well-received singles already under their belts, the Albany 5-piece kick off 2022 with a bang..

Coming in hot for 2022 on the back of well-received singles Don’t Fade and Close To You, Southwest WA’s Star Arcana make their intentions for the year well known with their expansive, spacious new single The Now.

Bringing 90s influences kicking and screaming into the ‘20s, The Now draws on elements from the golden era of grunge, shoegaze and alt rock without falling into the potential pitfalls of nostalgia. Stripping their sound back (just a tad) from past singles, The Now sees the band exploring more with sonic space and rhythm to give the track some truly powerful moments when the flows overtake the ebbs.

Lyrically, the band explore some relatable themes as the track “denotes the importance of experiencing life in the present moment, and explores the frustration that comes from watching loved ones, as well as oneself, struggle to maintain this spiritualistic state.” Let’s face it - who doesn’t need a reminder to be mindful now and then.

Releasing on the 3rd of February, and with launches on Friday February 4 at the Indian Ocean Hotel (support from Urusla, Residents’ Club and The Deenys), and Saturday February 12 as part of the Life of Margs Fest, you can stream The Now exclusively below for… now:
