It's been a hot minute since we last chatted to Abbe May, but true to form from that conversation earlier this year, she's now marching towards the release of her new album, Fruit, which is due February 2 next year. And in the march towards said release, we're excited to premiere a new single from it in Love Decline, a self-reflective moment for May as she searches for meaning in supposed limitations of romantic love: "Love Decline is about a self-centered kind of love, a decadence and a sadness which tracks the rise and fall of passionate love," she says. "I wrote it after hearing an older man suggest that people don't really fall in love after a certain age. He was talking about passionate love; the kind that requires a degree of foolish youthfulness... I found his romantic cynicism confronting. I'm still young and I'm still learning but I hope that old man wasn't right about love being a load of crap."
Does she find the answer? Well you'll just have to have a listen to Love Decline below to find out, and in the process enjoy a silky smooth, funk/soul slow jam that has us unsure what to expect from her upcoming album, but nonetheless very excited to hear it - bring on 2018!
