The music industry is now more respectable than Australian politics.

Australian politics is officially more of a debacle than the global music industry after yesterday's failed Labor leadership spill.

Simon Crean's 'suicide bombing' followed by Kevin Rudd's refusal to challenge Julia Gillard for the leadership is now considered to be more laughable that the industry's inability to deal with the first years of the internet.

Earlier today The International Trust of Stupidity [TITS] released a statement saying that yesterday's theatrics were up there with the world's best. “What we saw yesterday was absolutely ridiculous,” it read, “particularly for a political party in desperate need of public support. Yesterday we saw a series of events that was even less effective of winning the public over than suing Napster was.”

A spokesperson from the music industry welcomed today's news, saying, “Over the past few years the music industry has striven to not be the laughing stock of the business world. We've taken a number of steps to identify dodgy managers and promoters, while restricting the access of label executives to penthouse suites. Also, we've outlawed the use of the phrase, 'Stick with me babe, I can make you huge'.”

With an election looming in September there has been speculation that Australian politics can clean itself up and pass the music industry in terms of respectability. However, a source close to TITS said that it was an unlikely eventuality.

The source added that ARIA CEO Dan Rosen was firming at the bookies as an outside chance for PM.
