A 17-year-old Perth gun to keep your eye on..
Recently we announced the three winners for our Arcadia Ones To Watch competition, each taking an opening night for when the Arcadia spider makes its Australian debut appearance over the weekend of November 25-27. In the lead-up to the event we'll be highlighting each artist, and after Boneflip last week, time to meet the winner of Sunday night's opening set - CALIBR. Sunday's winner had to be aged 13-17 in line with the event, which recently changed to an ALL-AGES event.
For more information on and tickets to events surrounding Arcadia Australia (including free community events in the week leading up to November 25-27), head to the Arcadia Australia WEBSITE.
Tell us about about yourself?
Wassup, my name is Callum and I've been producing for roughly two years.
What kinda tunes we talkin’?
Honestly, anything with a good vibe. From soulful soulection to hard bass music and everything in between. Lately I've been really enjoying Mura Masa and some of Oski's new tunes.
Production/writing process:
I normally start off by writing nice chord progression and then I go from there and do percussion etc. I also find alot of inspiration from random recorded samples off freesound or my iPhone. The sample could be something like a guy who hit some pots and pans together in his kitchen or the sound of a toy xylophone. My workflow is pretty bad, I like to mix, master and arrange my tracks simultaneously to make sure they always sound gucci.
What do you do outside of music?
Right now just chilling with mates and working. I just finished Highschool so I'm waiting to get my atar score and see what happens next year (hopefully uni).
Any shows coming up?
Arcadia!
What’s the rest of the year have in store?
There's no more school so I guess just chilling, working part time and making beats.
Where can we hear more of your music?
Follow me on SOUNDCLOUD, and I've also got some stuff coming out on the next Phuture Collective issue, check their SOUNDCLOUD.
