Grab some headphones, curl up in a corner or hide under your desk because boy have we got one incredibly exciting return. With fellow Melbournian Rromarin on vocals, Melbourne multi-instrumentalist and producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP is back sounding bigger, darker and better than ever with a new track titled Nothing. Having just signed with Different Recordings/PIA (who boasts a roster including Claptone, Kllo, Vessels), LUCIANBLOMKAMP has remained relatively quiet on the material front (excluding his work with US rapper 6LACK and his side project with Seekae’s John Hassell labelled Brutalist), with this (Nothing) being the first piece of new material for the Melbourne man since his incredible 2016 release Bad Faith.
From the likes of The Overman to From Afar and Comfort, LUCIANBLOMKAMP sits firmly amongst a brigade of talent that Melbourne just keeps on unearthing. Building with a subtly hard-hitting beat, Nothing is dark and industrial. With the assistance of Rromarin’s beautiful haunting, yet equally alluring vocal, Nothing does no harm to the notion that LUCIANBLOMKAMP is one of the most exciting young producers in the country.
Hold steady though, because Nothing isn’t the only piece of news we have for you from the LUCIANBLOMKAMP camp as we can also finally let you that he has indeed announced a follow-up to his 2016 record Bad Faith. Releasing over the course of the course of the next few months in three parts, his new album is titled Sick of What I Don’t Understand. Following the success and hype of Bad Faith, you can bet we are damn excited about the return of LUCIANBLOMKAMP and can’t wait to see what the rest of 2017 holds for the Melbourne talent.
