All Night is the first taste off the new EP TQ from Moridalloc-ian lo-fi jazz duo Slum Sociable, set for release on October 9 via Liberation Music. Their short-spanning career has already seen them work with Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads), and two official releases in its clear these guys are set up for something big. They’ve nailed what we’ll call an ‘aural ambient euphoria’ in their music that features cosmic drones of dark and brooding synths, elements of smooth new age jazz gone choppy IDM, and then they’ve made it something really indefinably idiosyncratic, which I like just as much as the next guy. The song never spirals out of control, but its more intricate and complex feeling than any lo-fi, deep house powder keg.

Slum Sociable’s first headlining tour will be hitting the Shebeen Bandroom in Melbourne on Saturday 19 September, followed by GoodGod in Sydney on Saturday 26 September. The duo will also perform on Tuesday 8 September at The Flying Cock and Friday 11 September at The Winn Outdoor Stage in Brisbane as part of BIGSOUND. The TQ EP will be home to seven tracks including All Night, with a vinyl edition that will also include their debut single Anyway. I think its fair to say that these guys are on an exciting path right now, AND, they’ve also enlightened us to the fact that there is a place in Australia populated by 7,000 people that’s called Mordialloc.
