Emerging duo Oh My My have a lot to celebrate this week. Not only do they have a new single out, taken from their forthcoming debut EP, but they've also recently inked a deal with Poster Child's Maddy Smith as their booking agent and have announced a few NSW dates to celebrate. Their new single, titled 'Sipping The Bottle', is an electric slice of "horrorpop", and is premiering on Purple Sneakers today. Fittingly out on Friday the 13th, it's absolutely the strangest single you will hear this week, which is exactly what makes it so exciting.
Described as signalling a bold new era for the duo, 'Sipping The Bottle' is a strange and unpredictable ride. Producer Sam Thomlinson said of the single, "It's about drinking wine in the middle of a cricket pitch under a sleeping bag, at 3am, with your ex. Well, at least that's how it started. Sometimes, I just start singing and the lyrics come out. This was one of those times."
To coincide with the release, we asked Oh My My a few questions to get to know them better. Check it all out and stream 'Sipping The Bottle' exclusively now.

Who are you?
We are Sam (me) and Timothy. We both grew up in Sydney playing in different indie rock bands. We spent years in vans driving around Australia attempting to earn our stripes, before hooking up to start Oh My My.
How did Oh My My come to be?
I started the idea while on tour with a band in Canada. I was watching these two guys (Square Peg Round Hole) play this amazing set of electronic inspired music…. And in turn, it inspired me. I wrote a few songs on that tour, brought them home and started working on them in the studio. I approached Tim after a while, knowing he had the right voice to portray some of the darkness in the music I was writing.
What are we talking, vibes-wise?
I grew up listening to death metal and punk. These days I listen to everything under the sun. However, I tend to gravitate towards darker music and moods, like Tyler the Creator, SBTRKT, King Krule etc. There’s something in the harmony of darker music that really pulls me in. Oh My My embodies that darkness, while still having beats strong enough to make you want to dance and jump around.
Tell us more about your single, Sipping The Bottle?
I wrote the verse of 'Sipping The Bottle' while experimenting with approaching a piano blind (eyes closed) while recording, hoping that something unexpected would come out that I wouldn’t write if I just sat down with a guitar. Fortunately it worked. The chromatic movement of the melody in the verse then inspired the bassline in the chorus. The lyrics kinda fell together as I was writing the melody… one of those times where everything just happened simultaneously.
What can we expect from you in the months ahead?
We have our biggest tour yet, playing all around NSW. We have an EP written and ready to go. So we’ll be focusing on a few singles from that and hopefully an EP release in the not too distant future.
Where can we hear more from you?
You can catch us at one of our NSW shows over the next few months, as well as all streaming platforms.
'Sipping The Bottle' is out Friday, March 13th.
