Listen: Mazy - Interstella

New sounds from Sydney Psychedelic Britpop purveyors take us to the cosmos.

More Mazy Mazy Profile

Dropping the appropriately space themed Interstella today is Sydney band Mazy, who pair sparkly synths with kaleidoscopic guitars and a very healthy use of reverb and vocoder on vocals to take us on an aural journey through the Milky Way and beyond.

On the single Mazy share, “This one has become the band's favourite track. We were given a lecture by Kim Moyes (The Presets) on how bad our cheap vocoder sound was on this, before he played us various daft punk songs to show us what a good one sounds like. We kept it anyway. It's also Kim's favourite now but he still hates the vocoder. Interstella explores themes of time, isolation and human connection, all through a celestial lens. It also bangs in zero gravity.” It’s not what you got - it’s what you do with what you have, indeed.
