The musician, fashion designer, and visual artist gives us two offerings taken from her debut album ahead of its release next month..
A musician, fashion designer, and visual artist, Annie Hamilton is a true creative crafting a beautifully refreshing world around her visually and sonically. We got the chance to walkthrough her debut ep a couple years ago, a release which featured her breakthrough single Kitchen. Since then Annie has been busy sharing lineups with the likes of Julia Jacklin, Gordi, Jack River, Maddy Jane and Lime Cordiale, creating viral TikToks, launching a fashion label featuring a collection of gender-neutral clothing, and working on a her debut album - a release which we get a taste of today with the singles Again and All The Doors Inside My Home Are Slamming Into One Another.
Both tracks are produced alongside Jake Webb (Methyl Ethel) and Hamilton, and showcase the artists diversity and a songwriter and vocalist. Again, rich with lush and layered instrumentation featuring elegant strings, gritty guitars, reverb drenched beats, and a delightful swell of harmonies, follows a more traditional pop structure that builds to a triumphant and catchy chorus.
Whilst All The Doors Inside My Home Are Slamming Into One Another follows a parallel sound to Again, it boasts a less-traditional structure which coincides with its narrative and volatile tenderness. It is a vulnerable glimpse of remorse and regret that grows as the track evolves from gentle guitar squeaks and synths backing vocals, to a full soundscape of swelling basslines, snare hits, and keys, following the impactful repetition of the lyric “I don’t love you anymore”.
Both singles are out today, ahead of the album's release on May 20th. With a beautiful tenderness similar to the likes of Phoebe Bridges or Angel Olsen, be sure to delve into Again and All The Doors Inside My Home Are Slamming Into One Another below.
