More Kelsey Lu More Kelsey Lu

"Lu's debut is a masterful work." – Christopher H James

In 2005 Miri Ben-Ari reconfigured urban and classical with the Kanye West-produced The Hip-Hop Violinist. Kelsey Lu (aka Kelsey McJunkins) is doing something similar with the cello in the age of Bon Iver and cloud rap.

However, the North Carolina-born artist possesses a near-operatic voice, ensuring her style is more otherworldly. McJunkins' debut, Blood, reps a panoramic contrast to Billie Eilish's insular experimentations with epics like Rebel. Still, she embraces glittery pop, with Due West co-produced by Skrillex, and Poor Fake playful disco. McJunkins even subversively covers 10cc's I'm Not In Love.
