Upstart Wollongong four-piece Ex! Terminate! have revealed that they are returning to their classic sound as they wrap studio work on their debut full-length album, Are You Sarah Connor?
The quartet, who met for the first time six months ago while waiting at a bus stop near a local BWS, say their early time together was blessed by an intangible “X-factor” that made those initial rehearsals something special.
“Basically, we locked ourselves in Tim, our bassist's, garage and took ecstasy for like a week straight,” guitarist/vocalist Chet d'Caffe told SPA Confidential.
“I don't know if it was destiny or fate or the stomachful of pills, but we wrote some incredible stuff that first week. Or, at least, I'm pretty sure we did.”
Later rehearsals and writing efforts over consequent weeks, however, failed to hit the spot for the members, leading to a near-total meltdown before the band's first show. A month-long hiatus followed before they were ready to forgive, forget and move forward with their career.
“We just want to recapture that early magic, you know?" d'Caffe opined.
"We really want this first album to reflect what we were all about when we were just starting out."
