Six-piece psych pop band Nice Biscuit give us the rundown on their favourite places at home before BIGSOUND kicks off next week.

Six-piece psych band NICE BISCUIT are much loved darlings of Brisbane, and for very good reason. Their tripped-out live show has to be seen to be believed in all its immersive, nostalgic glory, but without ever overdoing it. It's a tasteful homage to 70s psychedelia while having one foot firmly planted in the future with their modern approach to songwriting. Continuing to kick impressive goals such as supporting the one and only BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE and releasing a recent 7" on new tastemaker label, Break Even Recordings, it's no wonder this is one band everyone can't stop watching.

Now, set to perform at this year's BIGSOUND next week, we wanted to get to know them a little better and asked them to give us a run down of their favourite places at home. From cafes to record shops, Nice Biscuit have given us the scoop on their favourite places in Meanjin (Brisbane). Check it all out below!

1. Alphabet Cafe (Boundary St, West End)

Don't miss a beat with our FREE daily newsletter

Start your morning off at Alphabet for delicious coffee & brekky and the best handmade sweet treats in town ft. doughnuts, brownies and cakes.

2. Jet Black Cat Music (Vulture St, West End)

JBCM is Brisbane’s champion of live music, always supporting new artists and upcoming gigs as well as organising great events such as Record Store Day.  It continues to treat customers with the best contemporary and classic releases on vinyl, as well as an ever-friendly chat with the owner, Shannon Logan

3. Kim Tanh Hot Bread (Vulture St, West End)

A unanimous favourite, Kim tanh has single handedly powered the West end population with ever delicious and fresh Banh Mi. Order Tofu with chilli and eat it at Kurilpa Park across the road and play your favourite ditty on the famous park piano.

4. Highgate Hill park (Dornoch Tce, Highgate Hill)

This park is situated on top of a big ol’ hill in Highgate Hill and is our default meeting place with friends, especially at sunset for a picnic overlooking the city. There are always dogs running around and friendly faces with plenty of shady trees and soft grass.

5. Annerley Road Op Shops (Ipswich Rd, Annerley)

This area is go-to for great vintage and pre-loved clothes and materials. The Life Line Vintage Revival Store is especially good, we have sourced a lot of our materials and outfits for costumes here and it is organised into sections based on era (50s, 60s, 70s etc).
