We got the lowdown on the coolest eateries in all of Los Angeles from our best bud Djemba Djemba.
What's with the crazy-ass amount of next level talent that comes out of Los Angeles? It must be the food right? To get to the bottom of this, we got in touch with our talented producer (and Iron Chef) pal DJEMBA DJEMBA (the 'd' is silent).
The plan was to get the lowdown on some of the best food combos at the best eateries in town. More to the point, where to eat in order to become as cool as he is.
If you think this list is all wrong and doesn't have enough vegemite-based meals in it, you can bring along a piece of toast to one of DJEMBA DJEMBA's shows this month when he touches down for his national joint tour with DJ HOODBOI, presented by the lovely BROWN BEAR ENTERTAINMENT.

1. Hainan Chicken Rice + Chrysanthemum Tea @ SAVOY KITCHEN
'Classic Hainanese chicken with white rice. You dip the chicken in sweet soy sauce and then chili sauce, or vice verse, drop it in the rice and then scoop the whole thing into your mouth. Down it with a super sweet ice chrysanthemum tea. So simple, so good.'
698 S Vermont Ave #109, Los Angeles
2. Shrimp Omelette + Green Onion Pancake @ PAPA WALK
'I'm pretty sure I invented this combination. You have to make sure the orders come out at the same time. Use your chop sticks to slice a piece of gelatinous omelet and shrimp + simmered greens and pile it onto a slice of green onion pancake. As Drake says, thank me later.'
227 W Valley Blvd Ste 148-B, San Gabriel
3. Pork Bossom + Coke @ KOBAWOO HOUSE
'Pork bossom is literally a plate of pork belly with kimchee, cabbage, radish and crazy shrimp topping. This one takes a bit of skill, but you built the base with cabbage, add the radish, then layer a few pork belly, and top with kimchee and shrimp paste, then finagle it into your mouth with chopsticks. Down it with a cool glass of coca cola for that "ahhh" feeling.'
138 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra
4. Hakata Ramen + Gyoza + Kirin @ SHIN SEN GUMI
'Medium noodle hardness, medium pork soup base, and medium heat ramen with toppings of egg, chashu pork, and bamboo. Paired with Gyoza and a pitcher of Kirin to share with your buds makes this one of the best orders possible.'
111 North Atlantic Boulevard, Monterey Park
5. Phở, + Crispy Eggroll + Soda Chan @ VIETNAM HOUSE
Crispy Eggroll wrapped in fresh lettuce with mint and cucumber dipped in Nuc mam is the perfect set up for a large bowl of a sweet and savory Pho Ga or Pho Dac Biet. Add a homemade soda chun for a refreshing and zesty palate cleanser.
