Artist/Band: Fountaineer
Name: Francis C White
When did you start making music and why? It began with a synth. It was the spring of 2013, as black balloons and anti-democratic placards encroached on our hometown of Bendigo. We’d never explored music with synths before and the songs we were writing needed atmosphere to match the lyrical content – songs about the tensions of a small town.

If you could only listen to one album forevermore, what would it be and why? I’ve never participated in one of these interviews before – I’ve always left it up to the frontman or frontwoman to answer, but I’ve known my answer to this question the whole time – Gnossiennes by French composer, Erik Satie. It calms me down, but also injects creativity in to me as I hear what seems like new notes upon every listen. Hmmm, I wonder what Kieran, Matt or Anthony would answer here…
Greatest rock'n'roll moment of your career to date? We’re certainly not a band who aspire to have or suit these moments, however if the out-of-the-ordinary, rock’n’roll moments do occur (and man I hope they do), we’ll cherish them forever! I do recall Anthony unexpectedly playing a guitar solo in the ladies bathroom at a show with Safia. Or maybe that was a dream I had? I dunno.
Why should people come and see your band? I can’t answer that... all we can say is that we truly believe in heart, grammar and punctuation. We strongly feel that songwriting will always trump technology.
When and where for your next gig? Grace Darling, Melbourne, 8 April
