Name/instrument played: Hannah – singer, guitar and piano.
How long have you been performing? I’ve always been a bit of a performer. I was one of those obnoxious toddlers that dominated home videos… it’s pretty cringe worthy watching them back now! Throughout school I did loads of classical piano recitals and performed in the school orchestra and choir, but I only started performing my original songs more seriously about three years ago.
You’re on tour in the van – which band or artist is going to keep you happy if we throw them on the stereo? I’m terrible at choosing favourites, it changes all the time and I can never pick just one! At the moment my faves are Ben Howard, Half Moon Run, Feist and Lucy Rose.
Which Brisbane bands before you have been an inspiration (musically or otherwise)? Kate Miller-Heidke is pretty much the reason I started songwriting in the first place, but I’ve also been inspired by other local artists such as Ball Park Music, MKO, Emma Dean, Thelma Plum and Emma Louise.
What part do you think Brisbane plays in the music you make? I write songs by drawing from personal experiences, and considering I’ve lived in Brisbane my whole life, I’d say that it’s had a large impact on my songwriting! The daily sunshine we get here definitely helps to counteract the sad songs I write and helps keep me relatively sane.
What’s in the pipeline for you musically in the short term? I’m about to release my second EP Buried Alive and then I’ll be heading off on my first ever east coast tour!
