Foals x Vampire Weekend Australia Day DJ Sets

Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio and Foals' Edwin Congreave go head to head in a DJ Showdown at Ding Dong Lounge after their BDO appearances this Saturday!

This year's Big Day Out bill features an array of some highly valued bands and artists. New York's Vampire Weekend and the UK's Foals are no exception to this, as they've proven their talent and musicianship to us Australians already.

Watching these two bands live at this year's festival is more than a treat, but how about seeing a member from each band work their groove in a DJ booth? Sorted!

With both bands playing Melbourne's Big Day Out this Australia Day, you can catch Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio and Foals' Edwin Congreave go head to head for a DJ showdown after the festival at Ding Dong Lounge's Midnight Run. Don't just expect any old set from either of these musicians though, they've both got some hidden disc jockey talent up their sleeves..

When Vampire Weekend put their feet up and slowed down their touring schedule, Chris Baio expanded his music skills by starting up his DJ career that is known as his surname - BAIO. Just last year he released his solo EP Sunburn - the hub of his musical inspiration that he drew from visiting Mexico, as well as his interest in electronic and dance music.

With BAIO being an actual DJ on the side of acting as one member of Vampire Weekend, this doesn't mean that Congreave is in any way inferior to his opposition.

Known to unite a variety of genres, Congreave will entice you with Nineties math rock and Greek folk, alongside some Metronomy, Caribou and Nicolas Jarr. If you can't quite imagine the result, I guess you're going to have to get down to Ding Dong Lounge this Saturday night!

The boys will be there from midnight and will be accompanied by the Midnight Run DJs. You can grab tickets off Oztix for $12 +bf, otherwise hope that there'll be some left on the door by the time you get there! If the gods are on your side, you'll be paying a  sweet $15.
