More Patrick James More Patrick James

Port Macquarie-bred troubadour Patrick James is facing a perfect storm of activity over the next couple of months as he gears up to release his debut full-length album Outlier, a new taste from which The Music is stoked to be premiering today in the form of In New Light.

It's something of a coincidentally apt title for his newest single, which arrives hot on the heels of two major announcements for the ascendant muso — firstly, he's inked a global publishing deal with venerated musical institution Alberts, which will take his new album (and previous singles California Song and Bugs) to reaches about which James could once only dream.

That agreement has come almost simultaneously alongside a new distribution deal with the local legends at Create/Control, with whom James previously collaborated on his Broken Lines and All About To Change EPs.

"I have made close and important relationships at Create/Control," James said in a statement. "I'm looking forward to working with the team for my album release."

It's all happening, too, with Outlier set to hit physical and digital formats via Create/Control on Friday 16 October, with James kicking off a national tour in support of the album (and The Paper Kites) one night prior, on 15 October, at The Gov in Adelaide. He'll perform in Perth, at Amplifier, on launch day, and head on to please crowds in Port Macquarie (18 October), Castlemaine (22 October), Melbourne (22 October), Geelong (24 October), Sunshine Coast (29 October), Gold Coast (30 October), Brisbane (31 October), Newcastle (5 November), Sydney (6 November), Canberra (7 November) and Thirroul, in NSW, where he wraps up at Anita's Theatre on 8 November.

Give In New Light a spin, then head yonder Gig Guide or The Music App way to get across the full spread of dates, venues and booking information for Patrick James' national album tour… and then spin In New Light again. There's no limit on these things, so you may as well kill the pre-tour time productively.
