"Nothing easy is worth it and nothing worth it is easy."

More RAYN More RAYN

After quickly grabbing attention with OMM last October, and follow-up Yes in November, Sydney-based breakout artist RAYN is releasing her debut EP Serotonin.

Both lead tracks had a rippling blend of pop hooks and electric soul licks held together with clear, contemporary R&B production - a combination that got RAYN airtime on triple j here in Australia and on BBC Introducing in the UK.

The rest of the EP expands on these elements, four tracks in all that overlap in themes of heartbreak, desire, loneliness and lust, creating a cycle that deepens further with every listen. They say it's better to have loved and lost, but the lesson here seems to be that if you learn to love yourself then you won't have anything to lose.

This record has been two years in the making - RAYN working with producer J4 - and the quality of these tracks is a testament to the time and feeling that clearly went into them. But then as RAYN says, "Nothing easy is worth it and nothing worth it is easy."

Give Serotonin a listen above before it drops this Thursday.
