PREMIERE: Sink Into The Prog-Soul Smoothness Of Big Words' 'Hollywood, A Beautiful Coincidence'

22 September 2017 | 9:50 am | Staff Writer

The Melbourne five-piece deliver eight tracks of eclectic, groovy greatness on their debut EP.

Ascendant Melbourne five-piece Big Words release their debut EP, Hollywood, A Beautiful Coincidence, today — and theMusic.com.au is stoked to be premiering the deeply funky, genre-bending eight-tracker this morning.

The EP features well-received singles The Answer and Soul Jam — between them, having accrued the band more than 1.5 million streams — along with recent cut Miss Your Mind, among other prog-soul flavours sure to please, including the sultrily titled The Art Of Making Love, new single Sunlight and more.

It's been quite the upward trajectory for the band over the past few years as they've built a name for themselves for their eclectic songwriting and energetic performances. Singer/rapper Kieren Lee even caught the attention of Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah while busking in 2016, leading to the muso being brought up on stage at the hip hop legends' Margaret Court Arena show later that night.

They've performed at Beyond The Valley, Melbourne Music Week and Pitch Music Festival, have sold out every headline show they've played this year, and are set to continue winning punters over as the band plans to set off in support of the EP in the near future.

They've got a couple of festival slots already in the bag for this November, including the Yarra Valley's Grapevine: A Wine & Music Pairing event and Tocumwal's Strawberry Fields festival.
