EDIE Gets Honest With Her Latest EP ‘Unsaid’

A year in the making, EDIE’s EP unsaid made its eerily excellent debut at the start of August. Now a month old and still sounding as fresh as ever, Perth (Boorloo)-based EDIE is celebrating the EP with a launch party at The Bird tonight (13 September).

EDIE says the EP is “a culmination of everything I left ‘unsaid’. Lyrically, it’s more personal, raw, and honest than I’ve ever been.”

The launch party, taking place on the notoriously ominous date of Friday 13, lends itself to the overall atmosphere of unsaid, with EDIE “experimenting with more gothic sounds.” “I love anything spooky, so anywhere we could incorporate this, I was on board!” affirms EDIE.

The creation process of this EP also involved collaboration with fellow local artists Siobhan Cotchin and Dylan Ollivierre, a writing process that EDIE reflects was “smooth sailing.”

“We all clicked really well, and they are both so incredibly talented, so it’s an honour! I love being able to bounce ideas off each other and see how other people create. “

The previous single, Villain, stands out as a favourite for EDIE on the EP. “I just wanna get up and dance when I listen to it! I was a little sick on the day we recorded, but there’s this awesome little rasp that I do in the first verse that I’m obsessed with”.

In the accompanying music video for Villain, EDIE channels “Supernatural and Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, with EDIE always jumping at the opportunity to “play different characters” and tap into her “love for acting”. “I’m a very visual person. I often have planned the music video idea in my head before I’ve even written the song!”

As for tonight’s launch party, EDIE promises that with her theatre kid background, it’s going to be a dramatic night, even teasing a potential costume change.

To add to the fun and theatrics of the evening, she will also be joined by support acts Tash Marie, Rosalie Chilvers, and Yng Millz—it’s definitely an event and a line-up to get around if you’re after something to do tonight in Perth.
