ALBUM PREMIERE: Stevie Jean – ‘The Dark’

The power of a well-crafted album is not lost on Aussie artist Stevie Jean, who has been “obsessed” with the format since she was a kid.

“They are sonic planets that you can live in. They affect your life,” Jean said.

As such, “creating an album was a dream come true” for the Darwin singer-songwriter, and The Music has the pleasure of premiering her debut LP, The Dark, today ahead of its official release tomorrow.

The Dark has been described as a “concept that delves into Stevie Jean’s adolescent ideas and experiences through the lens of fairy tales, mythology, and pop culture”.

The album came together over a period of four years.

“I've been able to work with musicians I am awed by,” she said.

“Benjamin Edgar, Miggy Zamba, Kuya James, Myka Wallace, Draft Day, Kapital J and of course Tony Espie and Fred Kevorkian.

“Designing the merchandise that comes with it is also an unparalleled joy.

“I am so thrilled to be premiered on The Music and so excited to share it with the world.

“I hope this album can be an escape, a soundtrack to some in the way that albums have been for me in the past.”
