CDR (Create, Define, Release) is a fantastic concept which allows producers to receive constructive criticism and support from their peers, in order for them to improve their work as a musician.
The non-profit organisation has been run at London's Plastic People for the past 10 years and was involved in shaping the careers of artists such as SBTRKT and MAYA JANE COLES. It also regularly runs in Berlin, Sydney and occasionally in Amsterdam. These particular sessions are about sharing new, unreleased music and works in progress, whether artists are signed, unsigned, world famous or, as yet, undiscovered.
On Friday 27th February in Sydney, a CDR Session will take place at 107 projects in Redfern. The night will include a screening of the inspiring beat-making documentary 'All Ears' + attendees will have the opportunity to witness interesting interviews with established artists including KUTMAH, RAS G, DAM-FUNK and many more.
Music makers will also be able to submit their work on CD or USB, to be shared with attendees via the Hi Jack Soundsystem throughout the evening. If you're living in a regional area or simply can't make it to the event, you are still able to get involved as there will be an 'Open CDR' part of the night, which will feature the playback of tracks submitted online.
