An introspective, country-folk delight, Thinking Of The Past marks the third EP from WA singer-songwriter Brandon Poletti.

Recorded and produced with longtime friend and musical collaborator Josh Dyson, Thinking Of The Past is five tracks of Poletti’s signature sincere storytelling and unmistakable country twang.

“I hope these songs take listeners on a journey of reflection,” Poletti says of the release, “where each song unpacks the bittersweet layers of nostalgia and the longing for what lies ahead.”

“I often think about how the past shapes who I am while the future is full of endless possibilities just waiting to be explored. In my fond memories, I find both solace and inspiration, reminding myself to cherish every moment.”

As well as unpacking the “bittersweet layers of nostalgia” through his music, Poletti has helped us unpack the EP in a track-by-track breakdown:

Craving is a song I wrote about yearning for a bit more from someone—to have them reciprocate the love I’m giving. I delved into the complexities of desire, capturing that ache for connection and understanding. Through its melody, I hope others find comfort in knowing they’re not alone in their longing for deeper bonds.

Slow Down reflects my thoughts on how life can sometimes move too fast. I wish we could just hit pause for a moment and appreciate the little things that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. This song invites listeners to savour those moments of stillness, helping us discover the beauty of now and the joy of simply being present.

Move Away was inspired by those days when I just feel like packing my bags and starting fresh in a new town. It captures the thrill and uncertainty of new beginnings, painting a vivid picture of escape and adventure. This song feels like a reminder to me to embrace change and the exciting possibility of reinventing yourself.

What The Future Holds reminds us that none of us truly know what tomorrow will bring. Sometimes, that’s comforting, while other times, it’s a bit scary. As I wrote this song, I wanted to prompt introspection about our hopes and fears, encouraging us all to hold onto our dreams while staying grounded in the present. I hope people feel grateful for today and find hope in the uncertainty.

Just a Man captures the raw honesty of our imperfections. I wrote it to embrace vulnerability and the beauty of being human. I hope that it resonates with anyone who has ever felt lost or flawed, reminding us that our shared struggles connect us all. Through the lyrics, I talk about the strength we find in our weaknesses and the importance of being resilient.
