What you need to know about your BIGSOUND artists.
Answered by: Mikey Arthur - vocals
Give us a short description of your music: Conceptually based metalcore, taking main influence from film scores/soundtracks, classical music, and infusing it with a whole range of different genres, from rock, opera, jazz, and much more.
Which acts are on your must-see list at BIGSOUND? Wreath, DREGG, Bakers Eddy, Freedom Of Fear, Lo!, Nerve, Outright, Private Function, Wither.
Why should people come and see you among the many amazing bands at BIGSOUND? Over the past couple of months, we have fine-tuned our live performance to bring the audience something special, finding new ways to immerse them into our story and sound, and we can't wait to bring the experience to the patrons of BIGSOUND.
What music trends do you think are dominating right now, and do you have any predictions for the coming year? The revival of early 2000s metalcore, though it's very much more apparent in the US scene, with bands like Vein, Left Behind, Sanction and Chamber. I hope that revival continues and makes its way here, I think Australia needs it.
In your career to date, what have been the key watershed moments? There's been a few moments over the years that have been awesome, but I think generally for us it's always great to see how the audience (avidly) get involved with our live performance and music. It's always very humbling to witness.

What industry lessons would you like to take away from the BIGSOUND conference? Being able to network with the many talented people who will be there at BIGSOUND. Learning tips on how to run a PR campaign would also be incredibly helpful.
What do you identify as the most pressing issue impacting the Australian music industry at present? The lack of forethought, consideration and ignorance in music regulation under the NSW government, specifically regarding the new festival risk assessment regulations and lockout laws. If they aren't reassessed it could potentially spread beyond NSW and threaten music in Australia.
What is the best bit of advice you've been given to prepare for your time at BIGSOUND? Taking the opportunity to make the most of the time we've been given and demonstrate our live performance to industry peers, and having the opportunity to potentially expand our team outside of the music side of things.
When and where is your BIGSOUND showcase? 3 Sep, Crowbar Brisbane, 10.40pm; 5 Sep, Crowbar Black, 10.30pm.
