TWO PEOPLE aren’t exactly the new kids on the block. With the unfortunate demise of Snakadaktal in 2014, Phoebe Lou and Joey Clough rose from the ashes, officially returning to the Australian music scene as Two People in 2016. The Melbourne duo has kept themselves incredibly busy within the last couple of years, writing and recording new music, as well as releasing a sprinkle of elegant electronic tracks from their upcoming debut record First Body, throughout 2018.
While their sound significantly deviates from that of Snakadaktal, Two People have definitely honed in and established their musical synthesis over the years. On tracks such as ‘I’m Tied, To You’ and ‘In The Garden’, warm synth textures blend effortlessly with a slow-burning electro-pop soundscape, colouring the duo’s introspective lyricism.

Pulsing synths rise and fall between gentle percussive beats on ‘Something To Talk About’, giving way to Phoebe Lou’s soulful vocals as she explores the inner-anxieties of fleeing from a beautiful place that you were once attached to. Between Lou’s vocals and Clough’s production, the duo have found a perfect medium sonically, creating delicate, yet expansive and atmospheric sounds, intensifying the emotional journey that comes with listening to their music.
This year saw Two People debut their live set at Splendour in the Grass as well as playing to huge hometown crowds in Melbourne and around the country. They’ve skilfully captivated audiences with their immersive electro-pop, capturing all the emotion and energy of their tracks into an ethereal live setting.
Establishing themselves as a striking force within the electronic music scene in 2018, it’s no doubt that there are big things coming for Two People in the new year!
