Our Adelaide buddy Motez has been extremely consistent with both recording and performing this year, so we reckon he's going to grow greatly in 2014!

Baghdad-born, Adelaide based garage house producer MOTEZ has constantly been on the move this year; releasing new material and playing shows around the country. Through such productivity, we’re comfortable in saying that this artist is going to make big waves over the course of 2014.

Since starting the project four years ago, Motez has really been involved with it of more recent years. He’s released material through Shadow Child’s own Food Music label, including his recent Ride Roof Back EP that dropped in just September this year.

Alongside original tracks, he’s respectfully edited and remixed some of RnB and pop’s biggest names, including Justin Timberlake’s ‘Like I Love You’ and Frank Ocean’s ‘Thinking About You’; alongside fiddling with the work of some of his Australian buddies such as Flight Facilities’ ‘Clair De Lune’, Tyler Touche’s ‘Heart In Motion’ and What So Not’s ‘High You Are’.

Apart from working hard within his creative realm, Motez has seen many a stage around Australia this year, as he went on to headline his own Australian Pacific Tour (which included performances at our club CANT SAY and our World Bar friends' Cakes). More recently though, he helped welcome the inaugural electronic dance music festival The Plot as well as sweat up Sydney’s Metro Theatre for A Very Sweaty Xmas – the festive party put together by Sweat It Out! Music; the label Motez happened to sign to this year.

Putting his own activity to the side, his music has reached the attention of big dogs Claude Vonstroke, Nick Catchdubs, Tommie Sunshine, Justin Martin and Eats Everything. Exclaiming their nod of approval saw the talents spinning Motez’ tracks in their live sets, in turn attracting the present audience of each said musician. He’s also been spun on-air by highly respected radio DJs Diplo and DJ Monki for BBC 1Extra.

So with this article full of name dropping and Motez praise, we can only wait but watch the artist fill even larger boots as he continues bringing the goods to his attentive and growing audience throughout 2014. Wasting no time in the new year, catch him at Sydney’s Field Day on 1st January, 2014.
