After a huge 2017 Melbourne soul queen Kaiit heads into the new year with experience under belt already slated to play a run of summer festivals.
Earlier in the year, when KAIIT dropped her debut single 'Natural Woman', I knew instantly she would be a star. It was one of those rare moments when something shines out at you over all the noise that comes from internet. It was no surprise then, when it blew up on Facebook and the industry quickly took notice.
For me, at the heart of Kaiit's appeal sits her raw authenticity, backed by her huge talent as a vocalist. You can really feel the soul in her voice as she flips between honeyed future-soul and tight RnB delivery. Her song writing is deep, thoughtful and way beyond her age.
In November, Kaiit delivered again with her follow up single '2000 n Somethin'. As with 'Natural Woman', the whole release is punctuated with a detailed attention to quality. The broken beat retains a warm lo-fi glow while remaining crisp and clear. The clip, a beautiful reflective piece, pays tribute to her roots while showing off her seemingly effortless cool.

Kaiit's had a big 2017. She's been shown plenty of love from Triple J and Tripe R alike, sold out her own shows, played festivals, and perhaps the most reliable sign of success, gets played at my local coffee shop and house parties every other day.
However, it's 2018 we're really excited about for Kaiit. With experience under belt, she heads into the new year already slated to play a run of festivals including the Ruler Werc curated Off the Grid and hitting the fabled Super Natural Amphitheatre at Golden Plains. We congratulate Kaiit on a cracker of a year and eagerly await new music.
