DEERHOOF's ‘Breakup Song,’ their thirteenth album, should be worn out and boring and something we’ve heard before. BUT IT’S NOT.

It’s common knowledge that DEERHOOF have been around the block a few times. Consequently, ‘Breakup Song,’ their thirteenth album, should be worn out and boring and something we’ve heard before. BUT IT’S NOT.

It’s fucking brilliant. Like, ridiculously new and fresh and classic DEERHOOF at their best. Erratic and unruly and brimming with energy and obscurity, ‘Breakup Song’ is sure to make it into the greats.

‘Breakup Song’ is unabashedly what pop is all about. The eleven track monster will have you up and dancing, preferably in a karaoke bar where you can caress the ears of your neighbours with your drunken dulcet cries. Impress us with your moves tiny dancer.

DEERHOOF has so much spunk. Unreservedly original, energetic, and the production is totally mint. It’s out of control, yet cohesive and somehow they manage to make looking bonkers and incredibly intelligent at the same time really easy. Riddle me that. Personal favourites include ‘Breakup Song,’  ’Mothball the Fleet,’ ‘Flower’ and ‘Fete D’Adieu.’ What’s on your list?
