ALBUM PREMIERE: The Berkeley Hunts Mix Punk And Folk For 'Life Living Impersonator'

"This album is actually about being a robot.”

Melbourne punk-folk trio, The Berkeley Hunts, step out into the world with their debut album Life Living Impersonator premiering on theMusic.com.au.

A precarious mix of punk tropes and folk flair combine together to make a refreshingly raw album full of impassioned vocals, relentless drums and surprisingly gentle horns.

While the 11 tracks might seem overflowing with angst and hurt, the band maintains that the overall moral of the LP is something a little simpler.

"People often mistake the lyrics in these songs with classic punk themes such as being really sad or being really angry," the band said in a statement.

"But, this album is actually about being a robot."

Whatever the takeaway, the release is an unexpected triumphant mix of two genres seldom thought of together.
