Album Focus: Stoney Joe

More Stoney Joe Stoney Joe Profile

Answered by: Roly Skender
Album title? Fuel For The Fire
Where did the title of your new album come from?  We’ve spent a fair amount of time sitting around a fire singing and playing instruments. Unsurprisingly the flames crept into our songs and left a definite smoky flavour.
How many releases do you have now? Fuel For The Fire is our third full length album after Brown Bread And Rice (2012) and Hot Jerky (2013).
How long did it take to write/record? This one took a couple of years to finish recording while we waited for the right songs to arrive. Stoney Joe doesn't tend to rush these things.
Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? We loved jamming old timey music with Brothers And Sisters for the 2015 Perth Fringe Festival show playing the music of O Brother Where Art Thou. The experience definitely helped shape this album.
What's your favourite song on it? We just shot a very 'magical' video clip for Use Your Mind. It must be seen to be disbelieved.
Will you do anything differently next time? This album feels like the end of a trilogy. The next one should be completely different. Maybe an acoustic live recording, an album of electro covers or a theatrical soundtrack.
When and where is your launch/next gig? 4 Jun, Babushka Leederville. We're then playing the following week, Jun 10, at Indi Bar.
