During writing, my Fender Telecaster also seemed to bring out the types of ideas I was after.

Album title? Big Appetite

Where did the title of your new album come from? It’s from the title track. The song is about a person who constantly bites the hand that feeds. I have used a lot of popular phrases regarding food within the lyrics.

How many releases do you have now? Four with F.U.L.L., three with Kingpin, one with Graphic Fiction Heroes and this is my second solo, so tenth.

How long did it take to write/record? Some songs are brand new, some are from the vault that have never been recorded, so the writing has happened over a long period. The recording was done between July last year through to February.

Was anything in particular inspiring you during the making? I liked the recent albums from Russell Morris and Jim Keays. I wanted to explore bluesier composition ideas. During writing, my Fender Telecaster also seemed to bring out the types of ideas I was after.

What’s your favourite song on it? I like the title track as well as Said The Spider To The Fly, which my wife Jen co-wrote.

Will you do anything differently next time? This was the first attempt at doing it all in my home studio from start to finish. Next time around I’d like to shorten the overall project hours.
