A Day With: Flower Drums

Pilerats go adventuring with the Perth indie-pop four-piece as part of our new documentary series..

Finally, more videos on Youtube.

Pile TV is Pilerats' new video platform, and this May we're excited to premiere a brand new series - A Day With - the first of several new video series Pile TV will premiere in 2015. A Day With is an original documentary series where we get an insiders' look into the work of Australian musicians, artists and creative entrepreneurs that we admire.

With a hypnotising style that sits between electronica and dream pop, Flower Drums are one of the West Australian music scene's most exciting new indie acts. We spent a day hiking with Leigh, Sam, Aden and Rhian at Araluen Botanic Park, then we sat in the corner of their rehearsal room as they warmed up for their gig later that night at The Bird in Northbridge. We tagged along to that too, and spent a lovely summers' night drinking and swaying under the stars as the band launched their single, Don't Wait.

As you'll see in the video, Leigh, had borrowed an old camera off a friend, and he shot a few rolls of film with it on the day to make sure it was working okay. "I use old point and shoot cameras quite a bit," says Leigh, "especially ones that aren't in perfect working order - the shots with light spill or double exposure are the best!". You can see some of the photos Leigh shot below the video.
