New Music: Björk - Vulnicura LP
Björk has surprise dropped her new album today, two months earlier than planned.. Well. Talk about a treat for Hump Day. Two months ahead of its original release date (in a note on Facebook last week, Icelandic musician Björk told us she'd be releasing the album in March), Björk has released her album Vulnicura on iTunes today, rolling it out over 24 hours. It's her first album in four years, following 2011's Biophilia. The early than announced digital release is most likely in response to the fact that it leaked over the weekend (although, unlike Madonna, she didn't go so far as to call the leak "artistic rape").  Vulnicura notably features co-production with our favourite New York Venuzualen Arca, producer for Twigs and Yeezus. British experimental producer The Haxan Cloak also chipped in on one track, and handled most of the mixing, save for two mixed with Chris Elms. Antony Hegarty, of Antony and the Johnsons, features on vocals on one track.  Björk posted (again... she is really

New music: Shakira - Hips Don't Lie (Arca Cover)
Arca makes a f*&ked-up club animal out of Shakira's pop mega-hit.. Before he was one of Kanye West's zeitgest Yeezy producers, before he was manning the boards for FKA Twigs, New York-Venezuelan buzz-producer Arca used to do some mad re-edits of classic R & B jams. I still bump his loopy, pitched-up-vocal take on Aaliyah's Are You Dat Somebody, so I was pretty pleased to see this fun Shakira cover crop up, tailing Arca's recent full length release, Xen.   Arca messes up the pop princess real good, with a bunch of warped samples and glitchy percussion, somehow turning the original Columbian rhythms into a Middle Eastern sounding jam. Arca recently debuted a live show at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, where he performed an hour of original material, singing and dancing against a backdrop of sexual imagery, wearing sequinned, thigh-high boots and a bondage crop top. At the end of the show, he received a standing ovation from none other than audience member Bjork, who he's r

Video - Arca & Jesse Kanda, 'Now You Know'
Jesse Kanda turns out another video winner for brain-melting producer Arca.. 24 year-old, Venezuelan-born, London-residing music producer/mixing engineer Arca’s forthcoming full length studio release, Xen, comes out tomorrow, a year on from Arca’s stunning mixtape &&&, and EP Stretch 2. Prior to its release, he’s just put out a video for title track Now You Know, directed/created by Jesse Kanda.  Given Kanda’s work for Arca so far has been mostly confronting, his video for Now You Know, seems a lot more tame in comparison, but hugely captivating, all the same. Dalston-based, Japanese born video artist Jesse Kanda has been friends with Arca for ten years (they met on the internet at age 14) and is currently touring the UK with Arca, providing visuals for all of his shows, is behind the camera for the track’s video. Kanda has collaborated with Arca previously on a video for Arca’s track Thievery, and on a film project called Trauma (which played at the Museum of Modern Art) where the two

Video: Arca - Thievery *Aus' Premiere*
A very special - and weird - Aus' premiere for you of Arca's latest single video clip.. As mentioned when we posted the track INITIALLY, we've been excited about the work of producer Arca since some time early last year, and we've been feverishly anticipating new music from him since. His dense and darkly-layered productions are about to find a home on Arca's debut album, Xen, due November 7 via Mute and Create/Control. He released Thievery a couple of weeks ago, an immense and immersive experience, cinematic in scope, unpredictable, and so beautifully composed, and we're incredibly excited/honoured to premiere its twisted video clip today, directed by longtime collaborator Jesse Kanda, who is also in charge of the album artwork. There's not really many words for the clip, except that it feels exactly right for a producer like Arca, so just enjoy it below: Follow Arca: FACEBOOK // WEBSITE
