Music Australia's Export Development Fund has shared more than $1 million between 65 Australian artists, producers, composers and songwriters as part of its latest round of funding.
Gordi and Mama Kin have been reappointed to the Music Australia Council, while Josh Pyke and Leah Flanagan have joined.
Creative Australia and industry body Music Australia have kept the pulse on audience, artists, and environments via a numbers-driven approach. For regional and remote music, this data could be life-changing.
The Export Development Fund sees $997,787.95 invested in 78 projects.
The LNP has pledged to slash Creative Australia's funding by $33.2 million if it wins today's election.
“There is a disconnect between Australians’ strong support for Australian artists and actual attendance at Australian acts,” related Creative Australia’s Belinda Balhatchet.
All Australian music media outlets are encouraged to apply for The Music Writer's Lab's Commissioning Fund.
The program will award grants between $10,000 and $150,000 to eligible record labels.
The show will be hosted by triple j alum Bridget Hustwaite, offering a “cool, credible and up-to-date voice for Australian music and pop culture”.
"This funding will help to address the challenges contributing to cancellations and closures among the live music scene," Minister for the Arts Tony Burke said.
