Electro-funk duo Midnight Pool Party continue to evolve their modern disco sounds..

The blog and management bros are getting into bed for a sexy Christmas party.. Mammal Sounds will be migrating south at the end of November, as they celebrate the festive season with a smashing night music by some of Australia's raddest up-and-coming artists. Taking over the stage at Shebeen in Melbourne will be local electro-duo Back Back Forward Punch (pictured), Sydney disco-funk dudes Midnight Pool Party and Brissy electronic producer cln. Helping them out on the night will be Acid Stag DJ ARDIE, as well as a special guest DJ set from Tasmanian future-beat duo Close Counters. Tickets are on sale now for just $15 HERE, click the poster to go to the FB event.

Sydney's disco-funk duo to the stars keep it fresh on their new single.. Midnight Pool Party have been flying the flag for disco and funk around Sydney parts for a while now, and their new single If You Were Mine (Baby) keeps those vibes in spades. Throwing together splashes of Breakbot, Miami Horror, Flight Facilities and even some Jamiroquai/Stardust, its a groove-laden disco jam that feels as appropriate now as it would have 30 years ago. It's out officially on September 9, with remixes from fellow disco-enthusiast Young Franco and producer cln. The disco is strong with this one.. A couple of weeks back we had the pleasure of offering you Sydney disco outfit Midnight Pool Party's new single, Linger, as our FRIDAY FREEBIE, and now you can download the whole Linger EP, featuring B-side Disco Delight, plus a couple of killer remixes from Luke Million and Sondrio. The whole release oozes mountains of funk, soul and disco reminiscent of the days when Stardust and Jamiroquai ruled the dancefloor (not that they still don't). Luke Million adds a touch of Swiss-synth/vocoder to the piece, while Canberra producer Sondrio adds some deeper, housey vibes.
