Feki - Nothing Lasts Forever
Some more producer gold out of Brisbane.. While Brisbane has been a hotbed of rock'n'roll talent for the past few years (decades), the city is quickly proving no slouch when it comes to the production side of things. People like Young Franco and more recently cln have been killing it for a while now, and today we can add 19-year-old Feki to the mix. His latest original, Nothing Lasts Forever, follows a string of remixes from the likes of GRMM, Kilter and The Preatures, and is a future-beat/chilltrap as they come, but with enough uniqueness to make it worth talking about it. Mastered by another Brissy lad Omniment (whose God Wolf remix we premiered LAST WEEK), it packs some serious soul, sweeping synth-lines, pitched vocals and a cracking snare. cln - Sideways EP
Brissy young gun backs up his debut single with a killer EP.. There's SO many young producers coming out of Australia it's becoming harder and harder to cut through noise, and this fact alone makes it really pleasing when someone does. And today we're happy to share with you Brisbane producer cln's debut EP, Sideways. Featuring lead single Better Than (which we covered a while BACK) along with its follow-up title track, the EP also includes a couple of unheard trip/hip hoppy jams in Dayum and What You Said, along with a remix for fellow Brisbanite, Golden Vessel. For mine it's the snares in cln's productions that originally grabbed my attention - maybe it's the drummer in me - but a good snare will prick up my ears straight away. Fortunately the downtempo melodies, pitched-around vocals and general smoothness of the whole package works beautifully. He's got some shows coming up too - including supporting our beloved Willow Beats on their Merewif SINGLE TOUR, check 'em after you give Si

cln - Better Than
The kids keep getting younger, and the beats keep getting better.. Better Than is 18-year-old Brissy producer cln's new single, and it's the first taste of his forthcoming EP, Sideways. I've been following his progress for a while, including remixes of tracks like Disclosures' White Noise, and Kilter's They Say, which were cool without blowing the proverbial roof off. So it gives me great pleasure today to share with you Better Than, because it stands head and shoulders above those remixes - which is all you want when it comes to originals. I guess you'd slide it under the 'chilltrap' genre, if that's a thing, and the warped vocal samples combine nicely with a tough drum-snare combo that keeps it from being super-down-tempo. I can't wait for the EP, out June 11, and until then I suggest you download Better Than for free, give cln a follow on FACEBOOK // SOUNDCLOUD, and keep your ears peeled for more releases as they come.
