"Patrons were evacuated until it was determined that there was no threat to safety."
Sydney group Ocean Alley were forced to evacuate their Canberra show on Sunday night due to a small fire.
The group were playing at University Of Canberra's UC Refectory when alarms were set off when the fire started in a rubbish bin.
"During the Ocean Alley set there was a small fire that started in a rubbish bin at the venue, the smoke caused the activation of the fire alarm," said a spokesperson for the UC Refectory in a statement to The Music.
"Patrons were evacuated until it was determined that there was no threat to safety. Evacuation and re-entry took about 20 minutes in total and the concert resumed without incident."
Ocean Alley have since taken to their Instagram account to thank emergency services, the venue and their fans for their assistance.
"We just wanted to say a big thanks to the fire department, the venue, security and all of the crowd on doing such a great job evacuating the building when the fire alarm was tripped," said the band in the post.
