Eminem Gets Honest On Past Albums: 'I Went Back To Relapse & Cringed At It'

Eminem has spoken candidly in an exclusive interview about his past albums, citing 2009 LP Relapse as a record he "cringed at" after revisiting. 

Sitting down with Sway Calloway to promote his new record, Kamikaze, the hip hop legend discussed the new effort serving as a response to criticism he received from last year's Revival.

"I have made albums that definitely probably would not be the top of my list," Eminem said.

"Encore, Relapse, which I believe Encore is a better album than Relapse.


"Relapse is something that I looked at in a couple of years, went back to it and cringed at. I was like, 'Oh Jesus Christ, I didn't realise I was doing that many accents!'

"For whatever reason, I just got into it and started on this weird serial killer vibe kind of thing and started wanting to talk crazy and start bending words more..."

He continued, "I always say that if it wasn't for Relapse, I wouldn't have been able to make Recovery and if it wasn't for Revival I wouldn't have been able to make this album."
