Due to overwhelming demand for tickets, Metallica have added a new show to their upcoming stadium tour of Australia. 

The iconic metal outfit have confirmed a second and final show at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium, taking place on Thursday 24 October.

Tickets for the newly-announced Melbourne date go on sale from 2pm on Tuesday 9 April while tickets for the already-announced shows in Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane are on sale now.

Appearing on The Music Podcast last month, Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo said they couldn't wait to perform at stadiums around Australia for the very first time. 

"We love the sporting events you guys have... we've even attended some games over the years." he said.

"So to play in some of these venues is gonna be really exciting."

Trujillo continued, "... It's gonna kinda be like the family vacation, you know? You're out there and you're in the sun and going to the beach - that's what we do when we're there - and you get to play great huge massive shows with Slipknot. 

"That's a great thing right there in itself."
