"It's not mine. [Someone] might have tried to frame me."
American DJ and producer David Morales has been arrested in Japan at the weekend for allegedly smuggling drugs into the country.
According to Sky News, a customs officer reportedly "found five granules of MDMA, weighing 0.3 grams, in Morales' carry-on suitcase." Morales was then detained at Fukoka airport in southern Japan and arrested on "suspicion of smuggling ecstasy."
Local newspaper Sankei has since reported that Morales denied the claim, adding that "It's not mine. [Someone] might have tried to frame me."
Japan has stringent anti-drug laws, which can see a maximum jail sentence of seven years and a three million Yen fine (roughly $37, 414 AUD).
Morales is a Grammy Award winning artist and producer, who has worked with the likes of Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson and more. He was scheduled to play two shows while in Japan before then heading to Portugal and Italy.
