"One can’t help but wonder what other unearthed post-punk gems are sitting on tapes."

More The Pop Group More The Pop Group

It’s been a while since The Pop Group’s last compilation, and this myriad of live material, John Peel session tracks and alternative mixes is a fantastic listen for fans and newcomers alike.

There’s funk grooves in Where There’s A Will, jagged guitar riffs alongside rhythmic bass on She Is Beyond Good And Evil, and there’s always Mark Stewart’s frenetic vocal delivery. They were never afraid of blending genres, as the extensive harmonica solo on Don’t Sell Your Dreams proves. One can’t help but wonder what other unearthed post-punk gems are sitting on tapes, waiting to be brought forth.
