This just got more awesome.

More Rhys Darby More Rhys Darby

The X-Files fans have been loving life since March with confirmation that the 90's sci-fi TV program would be returning for a new series and they've just been given another reason to get excited with the announcement that New Zealand actor Rhys Darby will appear in the revived show.

The comedian, best known for his work as Murray Hewitt in the acclaimed HBO series, Flight Of The Conchords will join the cast that already includes the returning David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson and fellow stand-up act Joel McHale.

It is unknown at this stage what role Darby will play in the show, though it will be very interesting to see him outside of his usual comedic roles.

The 41-year-old is currently performing stand-up shows throughout Canada, but will make time to commence filming which is already underway and expected to wrap in late August.
